Teenagers tell me to "chillax." Chill and relax. Does it matter 20 years from now if there is a comma, a letter in lower case instead of upper case, or if a word "clear" is spelled "cleer"?
I've looked at the typing of text messages ... and I get it. Why not put the message out there faster? Why spend a minute of 70 seconds checkking the spelling?
Sure, the dictation (speech to text) software sometimes spells "Leo" as "Layo" and sometimes the software creates interesting mistakes.
I'm not talking about errors in spelling that come from "not knowing the language." Example of an English class is typically a phonetic error:
werk instead of work
Martha walked down the streat with a smile on her fase. She had just left werk and was looking forward to a nice warm meel at home. The whether was nice today, and not a single cloud had hidden the son. Her husband had bought there house last year, and they still hadn ' t finished unpacking. Walking to the dore, she unlocked it with her kee. The dog greeted her with a bark and a wagging tale.
Instead, the text message errors come from the Google Speech recognition software or from lazy typers...

Here's another funny transcription (Aspen becomes "ass pens")
your tickets leaving the 18th of March from Baltimore to ass pens and we need to have your form of payment...
The comment by the blog's author: Lesson learned: No one rides to ass pens for free.
The point of this blog is to encourage teachers and parents to "relax." Kids are generally just being lazy.
its ok to write fast n skip some ltrs you get the idea.
i found when i was recovering from a broken leg that i was typing faster and sending messages faster when i simply didnt take time to use apostrophes and capital letters.
I learned that I could skip capitalizing some letters and still get my point across.
Try it yourself. type a message without worrying about the capital letrs. if you can get away with using fewer keystrokes, why not?
